WISE strategy

Against the backdrop of profound changes in the global energy landscape and intensifying climate risks, we continue to consider how to further integrate ESG with our corporate strategy and business operations in order to respond to new opportunities and challenges. “With Wisdom, we Innovate Sustainable Energy” is our latest sustainability vision. Based on national energy strategies and ENN's development plans, we have engaged extensively with ecosystem partners and incorporated the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals to develop the WISE sustainability philosophy. It covers four sustainability action areas and provides the foundation and objectives for managing ENN's sustainability efforts.

We use the “With Wisdom, we Innovate Sustainable Energy” vision to connect our business segments, unlock ESG's value in driving innovation and value creation, and guide each segment to develop distinctive ESG priorities and practical actions under the WISE philosophy.

ESG Ratings

MSCI ESG Ratings

MSCI ESG Ratings are among the most widely recognized corporate ESG ratings in the capital markets. The results are an important reference for investment decisions worldwide, and a strong MSCI rating reflects sound operations and effective governance.

S&P Global CSA Rating

The S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) is one of the world's largest and most influential annual assessments of corporate sustainability practices. Its results are widely recognized by global investors and international capital markets.

Sustainalytics ESG Risk Rating

Launched in 2020, the ESG Risk Rating helps companies and investors identify ESG issues that may create potential financial risks. It measures the extent to which ESG issues pose risks to a company's overall value. A lower score indicates a lower overall risk of ESG factors causing material financial impacts on the company.

HKQAA Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index

The Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index Series (tradable series) comprises three indexes covering listed companies in Hong Kong and mainland China with outstanding sustainability performance, providing benchmarks for sustainability investment.

Sustainability commitments

We work with the China Corporate Climate Action (CCCA) initiative to unite forces for a greener future, uphold our environmental responsibility and build a new low-carbon, clean sustainability ecosystem with all stakeholders.

The first listed gas company in China's A-share market to join the United Nations Global Compact, demonstrating the commitment of Chinese gas companies to advancing sustainability.

We signed the United Nations Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and participated in the 2023 Target Gender Equality Accelerator, working relentlessly to advance gender equality.

MGP was launched in 2017 by oil and gas companies, environmental organizations and policy advocates to reduce methane emissions across the oil and gas value chain. ENN has joined its policy influence group to help shape methane policy through our corporate influence.

Environment

We respond to China's goals of peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. We proactively fulfill our low-carbon emission-reduction responsibilities and work with customers to build a green ecosystem.
